Bonalu Festival

Abhyasa celebrated Bonalu Festival in the traditional way.

Bonalu is a significant cultural festival celebrated in the Telangana region of India. It is celebrated in honour of the goddess Mahakali, who is believed to protect the people from evil and diseases. Abhyasites celebrated Bonalu festival with great enthusiasm and joy, marked by colourful procession, music and dance performance. Students dressed up in traditional attire and participated in the festivities. Bonam - New pots were decorated with turmeric, vermilion, neem leaves. One interesting fact is that the word "Bonalu" is derived from the Telugu word "Bhojanalu," which means "meal" or "feast". A special meal was prepared and offered to the goddess Pochamma as a sign of respect and devotion. The highlight of the Bonalu festival was the procession, which was led by the students and accompanied by drum beats and dance performance. The procession marked its way to the temple, where special prayers and offerings were made to the Goddess Pochamma Temple under the Banyan Tree.
