FIELD TRIPS REPORT – 2011

Abhyasa Residential School believes in learning through experience. With this motto in my mind, the students of Class VIII A &B went to visit Navadurga Rice Mill at Allapur Village as a part of field trip on 23.12.2011 and the Class 11 students to the TATA Coffee Limited, an export unit of coffee powder 26.12.2011

Officials of the rice mill were eager to show the students around the mill. They supplied them detailed information regarding the process of separating rice from husk. The husk is used as fodder for cattle; fuel in the villages and is also used in brick making. The workers of the mill hail from Orissa. The mill distributes steamed rice and boiled rice to several districts in the state and exports the same to other states too. The out capacity of the mill is 1000 bags per day. The process goes on for 8 hours every day. It has the capacity to produce 4 tons of rice in an hour.

It was a great experience for the class 11 students to go round the factory which is into manufacturing an international brand of coffee powder. After being explained about the safety procedures, all the students were let into the factory after being provided with the safety equipment. They have learnt a lot about management of Inventory. Production, Human Resources, Records, and Logistics departments.

Students were amazed to see the high tech machinery used for the process. They shared that visual learning was very realistic and made them understand the work that goes on behind the scene.

The field trip has given them a wonderful experience of learning. Thanks to all the stakeholders who have taken immense interest in making these filed trips happen.
