Week-4 of 2nd Abhyasa Film Making Work Shop

Day-1

The faculty for this week was Mr.Debkanta Chakrabarti's. His entry into the world of cinema started with his film studies in the Film and Television Institute of India, where he specialized in film and video editing and later on in cinema-specialisation in editing.

A film that he worked on 'Silence' was appreciated by painter Maqbul Fida Hussein and was specially screened during the 1987 IFFI Indian Panaroma section. His stints with awards started with 'Jesus 71' a Bengali feature film of Bangladesh that won the acclaimed Best Editing Award in Bangladesh; then with a Bengali serial called 'Bela Abela' which received the Ujjala Anadoloke Best Editor Award; followed by been part of the team, as a Editor, for the film 'Krantikaal' that won the prestigious National Award in three categories. Recently he won the 'Uttam Kumar Mahasammanana' State Recognization Award from the Ministry of Information & Cultural Affairs, West Bengal for his ongoing contribution in both television and film editing.

In the first session Students took a glimpse on cinematography, later faculty spoke about the new editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro cc) students had a demo session of the new software. Later students were shown 36 clips of the film "THE UNTOUCHABLE". Students were divided in to 6 groups and assigned tom edit the movie in the sequence.

Day-2

All 6 groups submitted their assignment and learnt how to edit the movies in first 2 hours. The next project for all the six groups was to edit their own short movie clips and add few newly shot videos to the older ones and present them.

Students were presented short movies and later Mr. Debkanta Chakrabarti interacted with the students and clarified all queries and mistake done by students
