Abhinaya – The Dance Fest 2015

Dance and Music play a very important role along with studies in today’s competitive world. Indian Classical dance soothe and relax the minds of over-stressed school-children and at the same time educate the children and stimulate their concentration and creativity.

Indian Classical dances have its own rich tradition, which has made them popular even outside the country. And many foreign students are showing their interest in learning this art. In Hindu mythology, dance is believed to have been conceived by Brahma. Brahma inspired the sage Bharata Muni to write the Natya Shastra, a treatise on performing arts, from which a codified practice of dance and drama emerged. He used pathya (words) from the Rigveda, abhinaya (gestures) from the Yajurveda, geet (music) from the Samaveda and rasa (emotions) from the Atharvaveda to form the Natyaveda (body of knowledge about dance). The best-known of Hindu deities—Shiva, Kali and Krishna—are typically represented dancing. Shiva's cosmic dance, Tandava, Kali's dance of creation and destruction and Krishna's dance with the Gopikas (cow-herd girls)—Rasa Lila—are popular motifs in Hindu mythology.

Abhinaya – The Dance Fest is an integral part of Abhyasa which is celebrated every year. Abhyasa gives an opportunity to its students to discover and hone their dancing skills and find their vocation in Indian Classical Dance. This year Abhinaya was celebrated on 1st February at its campus. Kalaratna Dr. Smt. Vanaja Uday, a renowned Kuchipudi dancer both at national and international levels, was the Chief Guest for the evening. The students presented their skills in different forms of Indian Dances from different parts of the country such as Kashmiri, Manipuri, Bengali, Rajasthani, Garbha, Bhangra, Koli and last but not the least a fusion dance comprising of Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak and Mohiniyattam. Later all the dancers joined together on the stage for a grand finale and the program ended with the entire audience and participants singing the National Anthem. The Chief Guest was felicitated with shawl and mememto by our CEO and Founder Director Mr. Vinaayak Kalletla for gracing the occasion
