ANNUAL SPORTS MEET OF ABHYASA - 2012
The Priyanka’s Playfield echoed with claps on 29.01.2012 as another feather added to the cap of success! Abhyasa Residential Schools’ Sports Meet held on 29th Jan 2012 was a grand success just like any other function held at Abhyasa. Eminent personalities, Air commodore P. Ranbir Singh was the Chief Guest of the day. Guests of honor were Col Ashok Kumar and Col Rajiv Sah and other dignitaries gracing the occasion were Governing Body members Pro. A.S. Sastry and Justice Neeladri Rao. Director, Founder-Principal of the school Shri Vinayak Kalletla accompanied them ceremoniously.
After the Chief Guest declared open the Sports Meet, the Parade contingent representing the two Houses, Shiva and Shakti stood in order of their age groups; the juniors, the intermediate group and the seniors. The school captain and his team escorted the Chief Guest to the parade for a quick inspection.
Flamboyant Abhyasites in Punjabi attire and Bhangra mood performed a joyful Bhangra. The backdrop of lush green fields, women busy at their daily chores; churning the curd, fetching water and making pots. The flexes displaying men being busy in the fields and on bullock carts all added the required flavor, to transport the audience in time to a mini Punjabi life style. Respected Governing Body Member, Prof A.S.Shastry welcomed the Chief Guest and the Guests of honor and other dignitary along with the parents.
The Parade contingent marched to the tune of Sare Janan se acha, Anthem of the People of Hindustan. It is one of the enduring patriotic poems of the Urdu Language, written originally for children in the ghazal style of Urdu poetry by poet Muhammad Iqbal before independence. The School Captain led the parade contingent as the chief guest received the salute.
Every ceremony has its own importance. The history of the torch comes all the way from Athens. Athena the land of Greeks but at school as per the custom it was lit from Baba’s Lamp. Bhagwan Sri Satya Sai Baba has been the inspiration and the spirit of the school since its inception. Sports captain received the torch from the Chief Guest and other National level players and National athletes were the torch bearers till it reached the cauldron and the flame was set alight. The flame remained alighted till the end of the programme. The Principal of the school administered the oath to the parade contingent.
Later, Juvenile martial artists showcased their proficiency in the art. They performed amazing feats for their age. Kung Fu and Gymnastics took the parents to their childhood days.
Relay race tests the team spirit, the spirit to perform and to taste the nectar of victory together. Track events included relay race finals for boys and girls and 80 mts dash exclusively for Gents. Floral relay race by tiny tots was very interesting to watch. Ladies joined for a round of musical chair. Within a short period of time students of Abhyasa practiced assiduously and performed Mass Drill in front of the parents and guests. Colorful pompons tied to their wrists made them look like flock of birds flying together. Later, Vice Principal (admn) presented the Annual Sports Report for the year 2011-2012.
Apart from academic excellence the school had bagged many gold and silver medals in National athletic events and National games and sports. Name a sport and Abhyasites shines in it. Director / Founder Principal appreciated the students in his message requested the Chief Guest to grant NCC in the school level. He also reiterated that students should show more interest in taking up careers in Military, Defense, Navy and Air Force and serve the nation to their best. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and took inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s quotes. He stressed on how sports and games plays an important role in character building.
Vote of thanks included presentation of mementos to the dignitaries and thanks giving. The flag was lowered ceremoniously, followed the flame being put off. The Chief Guest handed over the flag to the principal of the school for safe custody until the next sports meet.
