The
council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi prescribes
the syllabus to be instructed for classes IX and X, for which it
sets papers and conducts exams at the end of class X - for the class
X portion of the syllabus only. The council specifies that a student
should study 3 compulsory subjects and opt for any 3 optional subjects
- the total being 6 subjects. The number of papers (number of exams)
in each of the subjects is enlisted here.

** The Council offers 20 optional subjects but the responsibility
for the correct selection of subjects to meet professional requirements
of students lies with the school.
Each paper has one theory exam for 80 marks and one project work
for 20 marks. The 80 marks theory exam is conducted by the
Council for I.C.S.E. The 20 marks project work is evaluated
internally by the school. The final percentage for 100 marks
in each subject - is reflected in the pass certificate issued by
the Council for ICSE. The student has to pass in atleast 5 subjects
including English (out of the total six) and the qualifying
percentage for pass is 35 %. The Council does not award any
ranks or classes or distinctions.
