The cirriculum
at Abhyasa is based on the "Multiple Intelligence Mode" offering
a variety of subjects - to cater to varying capabilities among children
and enable child to discover his/her aptitudes. The child's calibre
is nourished steadily from its roots to promote a natural and lasting
growth, rather than adopt 'quickfix' methods which only produce
temporary results and 'eye-wash' parent impressions! The emphasis
of the Abhyasa cirriculum at all levels is on the following:
Acquisition of information (Knowledge)
Application of Theory (Skills)
Original Presentation (Innovation)
Behaviour modification (Values)
| The medium
of Instruction is English |

MATH & SCIENCES
Exercises in Math are varied and
drawn from I.C.S.E , C.B.S.E. & A.P. state text
books.
Math syllabus prescribed by I.C.S.E
has "need based" topics such as computation of Income
tax, Banking practices, Profit booking in stock markets
etc. - which makes a student "financially aware" when he/she
passes out of class X.
Certain topics in Math which are
covered by the "Andhra Pradesh State Education Board"
and not prescribed by the "Council for I.C.S.E" for
the class X examination , will be covered for the students of
Abhyasa through a bridge course - after completion of their board
exams - to ensure their smooth entry to Junior colleges
(pre-university courses) in Andhra Pradesh.
Students with numerical disabilities
or weak analytical skills may opt out of Maths and/or
Sciences in classes IX and X - as per the Council rules.
In their place, Abhyasa has made provision for some other
subjects to be opted by students opting out of Maths or Science.
INNOVATIVE TEACHING - LEARNING PROCESS
Apart from choosing from a variety of subjects - based on aptitudes,
the teaching-learning process is so designed to inculcate critical
skills that would help students even ten years after their schooling.
Students are counseled on the career prospects that would be
available to them, when they actually enter life. The curriculum
is more need oriented than market driven.
GUIDANCE AND COACHING FOR COMPETITIVE EXAMS
The teachers at Abhyasa would be available to provide guidance and
coaching to students who wish to appear for competitive exams such
as IIT, medicine etc. during their study in classes XI and XII.
Parents may appreciate that such special coaching is not possible
in classes IX & X as the students have to prepare for examinations
in a vast portion for 11 papers.
EVALUATION
| Psychological
development is not uniform across individuals. It occurs at
different rates in different persons. Any attempt to fast track
this development leads to an early burn out in childhood and
an individual may be rendered incapable during his/her later
years. |
Abhyasa
follows the system of 'continuous'and 'multi mode'
evaluation. The system adopts an 'objective' and 'fool-proof
' methodology to provide a 'realistic assessment' of each student,
at the various stages of schooling. While the system of continuous
evaluation tests the 'knowledge' of a student and
ensures his/her constant academic preparedness - the 'multi mode
evaluation system' tests the skills and competencies
of a student and portrays his/her areas of aptitudes, personality
strengths and weaknesses etc.,
(a) Oral and written tests are conducted on completion of every
topic/chapter and their scores are recorded on a Elaborate
Evaluation Report.
On an average, a term covers six
tests in each subject (i.e., twelve tests
per year)
After each test, students are
motivated to improve upon their previous scores.
(b) The 'Grade Point Average' is calculated at the
term-end encompassing all curricular and co-curricular activities
and the student's performance is assessed on a 10 point scale.
The following is the class wise summary of subjects / courses offered
by Abhyasa Residential Public School. The credits beside each subject
indicate the weightage awarded to the subject in the cirriculum
and also the number of periods allotted for the same during the
week.
